When one door closes
and another opens, it can bring a lot of promise along.
Sure, you might be nervous about whatever is to come, but it's time to take stock of what you're leaving behind
and then look ahead.

Image

And that´s exactly what i´ve decided to do , start a brand new chapter of my life !
As most of you guys already know , my name is Dominika AKA Domi ,i´m a 19 y.o cargirl originally from Slovakia , Europe , currently living in Saitama, Kantō region , Japan .
I used to study architecture and interior design at the Tokyo University of the Arts ,which led me to an internship ( which was well paid by the way ) at 宮原建築設計室 located
in Shibuya City , Tokyo . However things due to the " infamous" COVID-19 worldwide pandemic have changed , millions of people ( including me ) lost their jobs , the economy is suffering , actually EVERYONE is suffering because of this worldwide pandemic .
And due to the fact , that i´ve lost my job because of this , i had to sell all of my previous cars and basically start all over again in the land of a rising sun .
And since i got fired from my previous job , i´ve decided , that i´m gonna be Self-employed and create my own motorsport oriented shop here in Japan !
I paid all of the loans needed to get the shop into my own possesion , spent a fortune of money on renovating the whole shop from repainting all of the walls to replacing every single one lift in the shop to even replacing the old staircase and after few weeks of hard work ( and a lot of money ) the official Garage Nightkids湾岸 was born
and with 20 000V$ left in my bank account , the hunt for my ( not so first ) car begun !

After few days of finding the perfect car that also wouldn´t break my bank acc , i´ve found this :
a 1998 MITSUBISHI LANCER GSR EVOLUTION V in Scotia White , that was listed for sale on https://www.goo-net-exchange.com/ for ¥1,098,000 , which is roughly around 10 000$ ( 10,117.33 to be exact )
Image
Image

140 xxx.xx km´s on the odometer , well maintained , No major dents or rusted out bodypanels , just a littlebit of surface rust on the underbody but nothing too crazy , no serious tears in seats / excessive wear on the steering wheel , which have to say for a 22 year old car is pretty impressive but also i´m not really surprised . At the end of the day , it´s a rally legend and mitsubishi sure did a great job designing and manufacturing them ! I have to say , that i´ve always had a soft spot for evos (Especially for the CP9A chassis ) and i´m more than happy with my purchase ! Thankfully i don´t have to stress myself with passing the shaken inspection since this car has passed the inspection in January of this year!

ImageImage

Oh i almost forgot , apart from the Kakimoto N1 aftermarket catback exhaust ( which sounds quite questionable might i add - but it could also possibly be an exhaust leak or something )EVO 6 cluster and HKS green mushroom airfilter , the car is completely stock . But don´t worry , that is gonna change really (REALLY) soon ! (Duh) My main goal with this car is to restore it from the ground up by doing multiple stages , one after another .
- Suspension :

Replace all of the worn out old suspension components with OEM+ ones for better handling

- Brakes :

Big Brake kit upgrade to handle the future engine plans

- Engine :

Try to create an optimal and reliable setup with higher HP numbers than stock

- Exterior :

Personalize the car to my own taste

Well yeah , that´s my plan with this car !
I have to say , that it was pretty hard to insure this car and also register it to be able to drive it on the street during these
hard times , but i did it ! Now after the quarantine i can drive the car as much as i want to ! :)
ImageImage

Finances:

1998 Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Evolution V - V$10,117.33
Car insurance and registration -
Car insurance : V$368.658 per year
Car registration : V$460.810 per year

V$20,000 - V$10,117.33 - V$368.65 - V$460.81 =V$ 9,053.20

Sad to see your builds gone due to sudden economic slur, but the Evo does have a great potential and it will surely bring a lot of customers to your shop some day!

Hey trans mission specialists actually sounds cool! And the Evo 5 might need some transmission work indeed since older gens often have problems with that. Anyway it's a pretty nice looking Evo, good luck with it!

The Evolution of Evolution
(begins)
Image
Well hello there my friends ! After a week of living with a stock CP9A , i must say ,that it´s time for some upgrades ! (nothing huge but still) Like i said in my last ( and also first ) update , i´m gonna gradually upgrade different part of the car (Suspension , brakes , engine etc etc.) And with that idea in my mind , i went on https://www.nengun.com and got some new parts to improve the driving quality and performance of the car !
HKS Hipermax IV Max GT - 7kg/mm front , 6kg/mm rear - V$ 1,569.79

HKS Metal cat - V$ 548.43

HKS Hi Power Silent Catback exhaust - V$ 541.21

Enkei RPF1 17x8.5 30 - V$ 1,032
(from https://enkei.com/ )

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 245/45 R17 99Y XL AO - V$ 555.12
(from a local tyre shop)
Image
Starting off , HKS Hipermax IV Max GT coilovers .
I have to say , that apart from some rusted out bolts here and there, the coilovers install was pretty easy ( thanks to the instruction manual ) and i´m more than sure ( actually i KNOW ), that they´re gonna feel 100x better on the street AND on track than the stock and dusty 22 year old coilovers that were on the car before . But why HKS Hipermax coilovers ? The HKS Hipermax IV Max GT is fairly new ( well it´s actually brand new ) suspension system developed by you´ve guessed it , HKS on their Toyota 86 demo car , which is now available for a huge variety of cars from Daihatsu Copen all the way to Nissan BNR34 GT-R .
FEATURES
Designed for extensive handling on and off the street , 30 Step damper adjustment , Monotube design with new Hiper Linear Piston (HLP) for more linear action , Strengthened rubber upper mounts for Rear , Adjustable Pillow-ball upper mounts for Front

Mix all of these things with the fact , that i already had more than enough of experience with the Hipermax coilovers way back when i had mine BCNR33 , the HKS Hipermax coilovers were the PERFECT option !
Image

Moving onto the wheels and tyres . I think we all know why i´ve decided to go with RPF1´s , they´re just legendary in the car community AND Enkei is in fact an official supplier of the McLaren Honda Formula One Team , The RPF1 was developed using the same technology as the Formula One race wheel. Enkei’s dual open stance spoke design is used on the McLaren Honda Formula One race wheel! The twin spokes achieve better stress dispersion on curves, hard braking, and extreme race driving.

And i´m not even talking about the fact , that they´re available in million different sizes from 14´´ , all the way to 18´´ !
As you´ve probably noticed already , i´ve decided to go with a " littlebit" meatier tyre than usual . After hours upon hours of research on the internet forums ( and also talking to Marc , aka @topy and also Filip Domanski , thamk) i´ve decided to go with 17x8.5 +30 rims wrapped in 245/45/17 Tyres on All 4 corners (since a staggered setup would literally fry the AWD system ). This wheel setup was well calculated ( thanks to those 2 guys ) not only to achieve the meaty setup i wanted , but also to avoid any clearance issues .

Image

And last ,BUT not least , HKS Hi Power Silent Catback exhaust and HKS Metal cat ! Like i said in my previous update , the car came with a (very old) Kakimoto N1 catback exhaust that sounded quite questionable to say at least , that needed to be replaced as soon as possible . I have to say , that i had a tough time picking the right exhaust , that not only sounds good but also flows better , since there´s million an a half aftermarket parts available for the Evo, regardless the generation . But after some research i´ve finally seattled down on HKS Hi Power Silent Series catback exhaust and also on a less restricting and better flowing HKS metal cat !
I have to say , that it´s definitely not the most aggressive sounding exhaust on the planet BUT it´s definitely gonna flow a lot better than the old Kakimoto N1 exhaust !

ImageImage
And yeah , Apart from the Lockdown that Japan has got into few days ago due to the worldwide pandemic COVID-19 , that´s all i got for you for today ! Stay indoors , don´t go out if you don´t need to and stay safe !
Finances:

HKS Hipermax IV Max GT - 7kg/mm front , 6kg/mm rear - V$ 1,569.79
HKS Metal cat - V$ 548.43
HKS Hi Power Silent Catback exhaust - V$ 541.21
Enkei RPF1 17x8.5 30 - V$ 1,032
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 245/45 R17 99Y XL AO - V$ 555.12

Everything together : V$ 4,246.55

Weekly paycheck : V$ 415

V$ 9,053.20 - V$ 4,246.55 + V$ 415 =V$ 5,221.65

Great progress on the Evo, well done! :D

Also a bit of correction: Yes, Enkei wheels is used by McLaren until today, but the exact RPF1 design was used only when they used Mercedes engines. They technically still uses it since their second partnership with Honda until today, but it's rather hard to spot. Also, now McLaren uses Renault engine, after said second partnership with Honda ended disastrously, with Fernando Alonso completely cutting ties with Honda (but not McLaren) after criticizing them multiple times and eventually exiting F1 the following year, landing him a seat with Toyota in WEC. I don't blame you however, it looks like Enkei forgot to update their page.

Here's a comparison between several McLaren cars to demonstrate the point:
